Sometimes you get discouraged,
because I am so small

So here's a little hand print

How the fingerprint platter all began...
The fingerprint platter was something I did back when my now junior in high school was in the 3rd grade. I was the PTO Co- President at the time and wanted something fun and different for the schools upcoming auction. I suggested platters since I had an at home based studio and everything there we'd need. Back then the kids used their thumbs, which made for a VERY interesting look, but that didn't matter, your child's' fingerprint is something to treasure. And they were the hot item of the night. I ended up doing 26 platters that year for the Auction and did another 26 a few years later for their Casino Night fundraiser.
From there, the word spread and so did the fingerprint platters/bowls/trays/mugs and anything else the kids can put their fingerprints on, for many local school auctions and teacher gifts. I love these items; I love painting them, meeting the kids and the joy they bring to families who are lucky enough to win them and take them home.

Middle School Auction Platter
I just had to share this dish with you....I am loving how it's turning out.
I get a call every year about this time from a local school for their annual auction. This year the room mom wanted to change things up a bit and have the kids actually provide the art work. LOVE THE IDEA!! The 4th graders drew their self portraits on a small post-it (to keep all of them relatively the same size) and I did the magical part of transferring them onto the dish.
